AFTER THE BALL
After the ball is over,
After the break of morn,
After the dancers laving
After the start are gone;
Many a heart is aching
If you could read them all,
Many the hopes that have vanished, after the ball.

RETURN TO LIST
AMERICA
I like to be in America,
Okay by me in America.
Ev'rythings free in America,
For a small fee in America!
I like the city of San Juan.
I know a boat you can get on.
Hundreds of flowers in full bloom.
Hundreds of people in each room!

Auto mobile in America,
Chromium steel in America.
Wire spoke wheel in America,
Very big deal in America!
I'll drive a Buick though San Juan.
If there's a road you can drive on.
I'll give my cousins a free ride.
How you fit all of them inside?

Immigrant goes to America,
Many hellos in America.
Nobody knows in America,
Puerto Rico's in America!
When I will go back to San Juan.
When you will shut up and get gone?
I'll give them new washing machine.
What have they got there to keep clean?

I like the shores or America,
Comfort is yours in America.
Knobs on the doors in America,
Wall to wall floors in America!
I'll bring a T.V. to San Juan.
If there's a current to turn on.
Ev'ryone there will give big cheer.
Ev'ryone there will have moved here!

I like to be in America,
Okay by me in America.
Ev'rythings free in America,
For a small fee in America!

THANK HEAVEN FOR LITTLE GIRLS
Each time I see a little girl of five or six or seven
I can't resist a joyous urge to smile and say
Chorus
Thank heaven for little girls
For little girls get bigger ev'ry day
Thank heaven for little girls
They grow up in the most delightful way
Those little eyes so helpless and appealing
One day will flash and send you crashing through the ceiling
Thank heaven for little girls
Thank heaven for them all no matter who no matter where
Without them what would little boys do
Thank heaven, thank heaven
Thank heaven for little girls

RETURN TO LIST
THE ANGEL
The Eiffel Tower of Paris
the mighty Alpine Ridge
The Grand Canal in Venice and the San Francisco Bridge
The Taj Mahal, Niagara Falls are sights second to none
But we know a place that beats em all so come on tell em son!
I know an angel that beckons to me no matter where I roam
She's no Mona Lisa and the Leaning Tower of Pisa
Is better known than the angel in my home
But though I wander all over the world
I'll make it plain to see
I'm a son of Islington where the angel is
That's good enough for me {say it again)
Where the angel is that's good enough for me

RETURN TO LIST
BABIES
Babies, only babies,
But we all have a wonderful time.
Though we're only very young
We know a thing or two,
And get away with lots of things
We shouldn't do.
La da da da da da
Our lives are just sublime.
When I go up to bed each night I really have
to grin,
'Cos mumie comes and kisses me and then she
tucks me in.
Babies, only babies,
But we all have a wonderful time.

RETURN TO LIST
BACK YOUR FANCY
Back your fancy, Back your fancy!
Come and have a gamble,
But look at the price just once or twice Before you join the scramble.
Wait until your chicks are hatched Before you count them up;
There's many a slip between the tip And the horse that wins the cup!

RETURN TO LIST
THE BAD, BAD BOY
Am I my mother's darling?
Am I my father's joy?
No, No, No, I'm a bad, bad boy.
Am I a little sweetheart Who never could annoy?
No, No, No, I'm a bad, bad boy.
I am the king of Mischief,
As I was born to be
And when I tear my trousers,
You'll see much more of me.
Am I a little Angel?
A cherub sweet and coy?
No, No, No, I'm a bad, bad boy!

RETURN TO LIST
THE BAMBAZOOLIAN WAY
Beat on the high drum, beat on the low drum, Rhythm is coming to town.
Clang on the high note, bang on the low note Keep it precise and low down.
On a romantical isle,
Land of fiesta and guile,
Thrills will abound if you take a vacation to Somewhere excitingly new.
CHORUS
Come on to Bambazzoola with me and by the Bambazoolian sea
There's a place to play all night and day on the Bambazoolian Way.
In Bambazoola everythings new we've got a Bambazoola for you.
There's a moon a glow when the lights are low
on the Bambazoolian Way.
What a Tropical island, What a Beautiful Shore
There's a magic in the music of the South Sea Symphony
Who'd be asking for more.
Come on and play you orchestra play
Your beating Tom-Tom we shall obey
And its all romance when the Natives Dance
With a Boogy Woogily Sway
The Bambazoolian Way

RETURN TO LIST
BARN DANCE
This is the time to go a dancing,
One, two, and let the music play,
Swing with your partner, you can sing with your partners as the band plays a merry roundelay.
This is the time when all together we know the way for making hay
All the year we await, and it's great at the fete, when we dance, we're going to dance!
We're going to dance the night away.

BIRDS OF A FEATHER
We are Birds of a feather, Middlesbrough is our home,
To all Birds of a Feather, Wheresoever you roam,
Get our wavelength on the air, we're going to shout,
Gang Show calling Listen to our Greeting ringing out to Birds of a Feather.
Through the wide wide world.

RETURN TO LIST
BOYS IN BLUE
Now's the time we can raise up a song as we praise the boys in blue.
On patrol in the street, night and day on the beat are the boys in blue.
See them standing on the corner or on point duty in the towns,
You can bet your life there is no doubt,
they're the boys we know that we could never do without
You can feel safe and sound when they're strolling along your Avenue
In a crowd they'll be there with an eye for the care of the likes of you.
Out in ev'ry sort of weather, ev'ry hour; there's something new.
Let us then cheer the men who are Law and Order Boys in Blue.

RETURN TO LIST
BROTHERS OF THE SKY
We are the sky-high Boys—We are a band of brothers,
What do we care when we're up in the air
And we're piloting into the blue?
Fly with the Sky-high Boys. Fly with a
band of brothers,
These are the rights, we can share the delights,
In the dizziest heights of the blue.
Building a new tomorrow—Leaving the world down below.
Through the far away of the star-way— And we don't give up for any foe,
Proud are the Sky-high Boys! Envy of all the others.
We are the kings with the magic wings,
We're brothers of the sky.

RETURN TO LIST
BUGSY MALONE
He's a sinner, candy coated,
For all his friends, he always seems to be alone.
But they love him,
Bugsy Malone.
City Slicker, He can charm you with a style all of his own,
Everybody loves that man,
Bugsy Malone.
Hot headed Bugsy makes his mind up,
Don't mess with Bugsy or you'll wind up,
Wishing you'd left well enough alone.
He's a man a mountain he's a rolling stone.
And will he leave you sad and lonely crying
I couldn't say but its known,
That everybody wants that man
Bugsy Malone

RETURN TO LIST
BAD GUYS
We could've been anything we wanted to be
But don't it make your heart glad
That we decided, a fact we take pride in
To become the best at being bad
We could've been anything we wanted to be
With all the talent we had
No doubt about it, we whine and we pout it
We're the very best at being guys
We're rotten to the core
And my congratulations no one likes you any more
Bad guys, we're the very worst
Each of us contemptible, we're criticised and cursed
We made the big time, malicious and mad
We're the very best at being bad
We could've been anything we wanted to be
We took the easy way out
With little training, we mastered complaining
Manners seemed unnecessary
We're so rude, it's almost scary
We could've been anything that we wanted to be
With all the talent we had
With little practice, we made every black list
We're the very best at being bad
We're the very best at being bad
We're the very best at being bad

RETURN TO LIST
DOWN AND OUT
Down, down, down, down, down, down, down and out
Down, down, down, down, down, down, down and out
Down, down, down, down, down, down, down and out
Down, down, down, down, down, down, down and out
You don't have to sit around
Complaining 'bout the way your life has wound up
Think of all the time you waste
And time's a precious thing to let roll by
Sure you've hit the bottom
But remember you'll be building from the ground up
Every day's another step that takes you even closer to the sky, so give a try
Down, down, down, down, down, down, down and out
Down, down, down, down, down, down, down and out
You don't have to sit around
Depressed about the way that luck deceived you
Fortune sailed away, you missed that boat
And found that you'd been left behind
Fight and fight some more
Until you know the world is ready to receive you
Lady luck is fickle but a lady is allowed to change her mind
You don't have to sit around
Complaining 'bout the way your life has wound up
So be a man you know you can't be certain
That you'll lose until you try
We as one shout
Up, up, up and out

FAT SAMS GRAND SLAM
Any body who is anybody
Will soon walk through that door
At Fat Sam's Grand Slam Speakeasy
Always able to find you a table
There's room for just one more
At Fat Sam's Grand Slam Speakeasy
Once you get here, feel the good cheer
Like they always say in the poem
Fat Sam's ain't humble
But it's your home sweet home
Plans are made here, games are played here
I could write me a book
Each night astounds you
Rumours are abuzzing
Stories by the dozen
Look around you, cousin
At the news were making here
Anybody who is anybody
Will soon walk through that door
At Fat Sam's Grand Slam Speakeasy
Da da da da da da
Da da da da da da
Da da da da da da
Hoc ya, Hoo ya, Hoo da da da da
See the politicians
Sittin' by the kitchen
Said he caught his fingers
In the well he was wishin'
Once you get here, feel the good cheer
Like they always say in the poem
Fat Sam's ain't humble
But it's your home sweet home
Plans are made here, games are played here
I could write me a book
Each night astounds you
Rumours are abuzzing
Stories by the dozen

Give A Little love
She's the kind who says goodbye to houses
When she's leaving them for good
Thinks about the beauty of the forest
When she burns a piece of wood
Says hello to strangers
And every hungry stray weighs on her mind
Sees good in everybody
That few of us would take the time to find
She says every act of kindness
Is a little bit of love we leave behind
She's the kind who lays awake and worries
When the headline tensions grow
Thinks about the unborn generations
And a time she'll never know
Seems it's always after midnight
When we talk it out and slowly both unwind
She says every act of kindness
Is a little bit of love we leave behind
That has passed our way
Serves to light every day
And in time will stay
Like a golden ghost in our mind
So when we have gone
What we do lives on
You know every act of kindness
Is a little bit of love we leave behind

RETURN TO LIST
BULL AND BUSH
Talk about the shade of the sheltering palm,
Praise the bamboo tree with its wide spreading charm;
There's a little nook down our old Hampstead Town,
You know the place, it has won great renown.
Often with my sweet heart on a bright summer's day.
To the little pub there my footsteps will stray,
If she hesitates when she looks at the sign,
Promptly I whisper, "Now, do not decline,"
In the little parlour on a cold winter's night.
All is very cheerful, so snug and so bright;
Nell looks me but now with a frown,
She would not change with the Queen and her crown.
It was there I first met the joy of my life,
She gave her troth and is now my dear wife,
Her eyes always glisten when she sees the old sign,
So all of you join in a glass of good wine.
CHORUS
Come, come, come and make eyes at me
Down at the old Bull and Bush.
Come, come, drink some port with me
Down at the old Bull and Bush.
Hear the little German Band,
Just let me hold your hand, dear.
Do, do come and have a drink to two
Down the old Bull and Bush.

BURLINGTON BERTIE FROM BOW
I'm Bert, P'raps you've heard of me,
Bert, you've had word of me,
Jogging along, heartly and strong, living on plates of fresh air.
I dress up in fashion, and when I am feeling pressed,
I shave from my cuff all the whiskers and fluff,
Stick my hat on and toddle up West.

I'm Burling Beartie, I rise at ten thirty and saunter along like a toff.
I walk down the Strand with my gloves on my hand, then I walk down again with them off.
I'm all airs and graces, correct easy paces, with out food so long I've forgot where my face is!
I'm Bert, Bert, I haven't a shirt, but my people are well off, you know!
Nearly ev'ry one knows me, from Smith to Lord Roseb'ry,
I'm Burlington Bertie from Bow!

I stroll with Lord Hurlington, roll in the Burlington,
Call for champagne, walk out again, come back and borrow the ink.
I live most expensive, like Tom Lipton I'm in the swim.
He's got so much 'off' that he sleeps on the roof, and I live in the room over him.

I'm Burling Beartie, I rise at ten thirty and saunter along Temple Bar.
As round there I skip, I keep shouting "Pip! Pip!" and the darn'd fools think I'm in my car.
At Rothchild's I swank it, my body I plank it on his front doorstep with 'The Mail' for a blanket,
I'm Bert, Bert, and Rothchild was hurt, He said "You can't sleep there!" I said, "Oh!"
He said "I'm Rothchild, sonny!" I said, "That's damn'd funny,
I'm Burlington Bertie from Bow!"

I smile, condescendly while they're extending me cheer up on cheer,
When I appear, Captain with my Polo team.
So strict are my people, they're William the Conqueror's strain.
If they ever knew I'd been stalking to you why, they'd never look at me again.
I'm Burlington bertie, I rise at ten thirty and reach Kempton Park about three.
I stand by the rail when a horse is for sale, and you ought to see Wooton watch me.
I lean on some awning while lord Derby's yawning, then he bids "Two thousand," and I bid "Good morning,"
I'm Bert, Bert, I'd buy one, a Cert, but where could I keep it, you know!
I can't let my man see me in bed with a GeeGee!
I'm Burlington bertie from Bow!
My pose, though I ronical, shows that my monocle holds up my face, keeps it in place, stops it from slipping away.
Cigars, I smoke thousands, I usually deal in the strand,
But you've got to take care when you're getting them there, or some idiot might stand on your hand.
I'm Burlington Bertie I rise at ten thirty then Buckingham Palace I view.
I stand in the yard while they're changing the Guard, and the king shouts across "Toodle-oo,"
The Prince of Wales' brother, along with some other, slaps me on the back and says " Come and see mother."
I'm Bert, Bert, and Royalty's hurt, when they ask me to dine, I say "No!
I've just had a banana with Lady Diana,
I'm Burlington Bertie from Bow!

CAMPANOLOGY
Verse
There's a village hidden deep in the valley
Among the Pine trees half forlorn
And there on a sunny morning little
Jimmy Brown was born
So his parents took him to the chapel
When he was only one day old
And the priest blessed the little fellow
Welcome Jimmy to the fold.
Chorus
All the chapel bells were ringing
In the little valley town.
And the song that they were singing
Was for baby Jimmy Brown.
Then the little congregation
Prayed for guidance from above.
Lead us not into temptation,
Bless this hour of meditation,
Guide him with eternal love.
Verse 1
There's a village hidden deep in the valley,
Beneath the mountains high above.
And there, twenty years thereafter,
Jimmy Brown was to meet his love.
Many friends were gathered in the chapel,
And many tears of joy were shed.
In June on a Sunday morning,
When Jimmy and his bride were wed.

RETURN TO LIST
Chorus
All the chapel bells were ringing,
Twas a great day in his life.
Cause the song that they were singing,
Was for jimmy and his wife.
Then the little congregation,
Prayed for guidance from above,
Lead us not into temptation,
Bless O Lord this celebration,
May there lives be filled with Love.
Verse 3
From the village hidden deep in the valley,
One rainy moming dark and grey.
A Soul winged its way to heaven,
Jimmy Brown had passed away.
Silent people gathered in the Chapel,
To say farewell to their old friend,
Whose life had been like a flower,
Budding blooming to the end.
Chorus
Just a lonely bell was ringing,
In the little valley town.
Twas farewell that they were singing,
To our good old Jimmy Brown.
And the little congregation
Prayed for guidance from above,
Lead us not into temptation,
May this soul find the salvation,
Of thy great eternal love

CASTLE ON A CLOUD
There is a castle on a cloud
I like to go there in my sleep
Aren't any floors for me to sweep
Not in my castle on a cloud.

There is a room that's full of toys
There are a hundred boys and girls
Nobody shouts or talks too loud
Not in my castle on a cloud.

There is a lady all in white
Holds me and sings a lullaby
She's nice to see, and she's soft to touch
She says: 'Cosette I love you very much.'

I know a place where no one's lost
I know a place where no one cries
Crying at all is not allowed
Not in my castle on a cloud.

CELEBRATION
Here's an invitation to a celebration we would like you all to share:
in a mini or a maxi you can come by train or taxi
but we want you there:
It is our intention for a new dimension with a mod,

You will hear the band play for-te,
there's a reason for the for-ty so beware.

CHORUS
Put on your best bib and tucker, all your trendy gear,
Join in the party, the moments here to celebrate
this great big wonderful year: Celebration!
Thro'all the lucky years that fortune gave
This is the right time for having a rave:
We still are riding on the crest of a wave,
it's celebration time tonight.
Once in a lifetime, Once in a lifetime,
You've got to follow your star,
And we know it, without a doubt,
We've got something to shout about,
Tonights a night when the lights are bright for ev'ryone
When ev'ry spotlight is a midnight sun:
Been a long Time, but it's clear now,
that it's here. Yes, here now,
it's celebration, yes, celebration tonight!

COMING HOME
Coming home at the end of the day when the twilight is fading away,
There's a welcome smile in a little while
Waiting there at the end of the day.
When the sun's going down in the West,
You go home to the ones you love best.
There is nothing more you've been longing for
When you're home at the end of the day.
Shadows of the evening come silent and still,
And softly, on the prairie the Angelus is ringing from the hill.
In a cabin where shadows can play—from the firelight to charm you away,
There are joys to share and a rocking chair,
Oh a man is a king who can say:
Coming home, coming home. at the end of the day.

ELVIS BLUE SUEDE SHOES
Well, it's one for the money,
Two for the show,
Three to get ready,
Now go, cat, go.
But don't you step on my blue suede shoes.
You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.
Well, you can knock me down,
Step in my face,
Slander my name
All over the place.
Do anything that you want to do, but uh-uh,
Honey, lay off of my shoes
Don't you step on my blue suede shoes.
You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.
You can burn my house,
Steal my car,
Drink my liquor
From an old fruitjar.
Do anything that you want to do, but uh-uh,
Honey, lay off of my shoes
Don't you step on my blue suede shoes.
You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.

Every Tom, Dick and Harry

They dazzle them all with a snappy salute
For they're always too quick, and they know how to click.

RETURN TO LIST
Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend
The French are glad to die for love
They delight in fighting duels
But I prefer a man who lives and gives expensive jewels
A kiss on the hand may be quite continental
But diamonds are a girl's best friend
A kiss may be grand but it won't pay the rental on your humble flat
Or help you at the automat
Men grow cold as girls grow old and we all lose our charms in the end
But square cut or pear shaped these rocks don't lose their shape
Diamonds are a girl's best friend
TIFFANYS! CARTIER! Black Star, Rossgorm,
Talk to me Harry Winston - tell me all about it!
There may come a time when a lass need her lawyer
But diamonds are a girl's best friend
There may come a time when a hard boiled employer thinks
You're awful nice but get that ice or else no dice
He's your guy when stocks are high
But beware when they start to descend
Its then that those louses go back to their spouses
Diamonds are a girl's best friend
I've heard of affairs that are strictly platonic
But diamonds are a girl's best friend
And I think affairs that you must keep blousonic are better bets
If little fets get big baguettes
Time rolls on and youth is gone and you can't straighten up when you bend
But stiff back or stiff knees you stand straight at Tiffany's
Diamonds...diamonds... I don't need rhinestones
But diamonds are a girl's best...best friend

DISC BUYERS
Verse 1
Everyone knows that kids today buy CD's by the score,
They know what they want and what they're paying for.
They know all the hit tunes and what their ratings are.
And have their favourite star.
Chorus
Gimme the voice of Robbie Williams,
I buy them all of Celine Dion.
I like the Manics,
I like Madonna,
I go for Elton John.
Gimme the discs of Ronan Keating
For that's where my money's spent.
Shaggy's the one for me
But I much prefer Old Sir Cliff Richard.
Verse 2
Years ago there were Gramophones, they always had to wind,
Change the needle every time it must have been a bind.
Then they'd play a hundred times a choirboy singing of
"Oh for the Wings of a Dove".
Verse 3
What an event it was in olden days to play a tune!
Silently they'd listen as they sat around the room.
Suddenly there'd be a shout you'd hear all over town,
"LOOK OUT IT'S RUNNING DOWN"
Verse 4
Mothers and dads don't understand and Grandma thinks we're mad
They just can't get with it and its very very sad.
They had vinyl discs of seventy-eight or thirty-three.
Now music's on CD!
Verse 5
There was a disturbance in our street not long ago,
For in our home music's the love, different sounds wouldn't you know.
There was dance; there was Rock, and some Oh what a din.
Neighbours were in a spin.
Verse 6
When Dad was young, vinyl discs were heavy as a brick,
Then the LP's and EP's and singles would sell so quick.
CD or minidisk, playing or being a singer.
Music is the winner.
Verse 7
Say what you like though times have changed as obviously they would
All the kids today are every bit as good.
Try to understand us we are modern and behave,
So lets all have a rave
EVERYBODY MUST HAVE SOMEONE
Everybody must have someone,
someone they can call their own.
All your troubles lighten,
life begins to brighten and you know you'll never be alone,
believe me, when you know your someone's someone.
All the dreams you dream are coming true,
for no-one had to tell me who my someone was when I found you.

FLASH BANG WALLOP
All lined up in a wedding group, here we are for a photograph.
We're all dressed up in morning suits and trying not to laugh.
Since the early caveman in his verve took a trip to Gretna Green,
There's always been a photographer to record the happy scene.
Hold it! Flash, bang, wallop!
What a picture, click, what a picture, what a photograph,
Poor old soul, blimey what a bloke, hat blown off in a cloud of smoke
Clap hands! Stamp your feet. Bangin' on a big, bass drum.
What a picture, what a picture,
Rum tiddley um pum, pum, pum, pum,
Stick it in your fam-lee album.
The same thing happened long ago when man was in his prime,
And what went on we only know from the snaps he took at the time.
When Adam and Eve in their birthday suit(s) decided to get wed,
As Adam was about to taste the fruit, the man with the camera said,
Hold it! Flash, bang, wallop! What a picture! Click!
What a picture! What a photograph!
Poor , old Eve there with nothing on, face all read and the figleaf gone.
Clap hands!
Stamp your feet. Bangin' on the big, bass drum.
What a picture! What a picture!
Rum diddley um, pum, pum, pum, pum.
Stick it in your fam-lee album.
You've read it in the fol-ios or seen it in the Shakespeare Play,
How Juliette fell for Romeo in the merry month of May,
And as he climbed the orchard wall to reach his lady fair,
As he tumbled, she began to bawl as he traveled through the air.
Hold it! Flash, bang, wallop! What a picture! Click!
What a picture! What a photograph!
Poor, young chap! What a night he spent!
Tights all torn and his rapier bent.
Clap hands! Stamp your feet! Bangin' on a big, bass drum.
What a picture! What a picture!
Rum diddley um, pum, pum, pum, pum.
Stick it in your fami-lee album.
Hold it! Flash, bang, Wallop. What a picture! Click!
What a picture! What a photograph!
Poor, young chap! What a night he spent!

FLYING HIGH
Com along, come along, to the hangar we must go,
Ev'ry man if he can must be off to make a show,
Soon upon our way we shall be wending,
As we're sending to the world unending,
Songs they can sing as they go along the way,
Songs That'll bring such a lift to ev'ry day,
Throngs on the wing with the weather fair,
What can compare when loads of lusty fellows take the air?

CHORUS
FLYING HIGH, FLYING HIGH,
We're over the clouds today,
We own the right o' way,
Listen to the roaring as we go soaring all together we're banding,
And we're looking for a happy landing, thro' the sky,
FLYING HIGH,
And finding a place in the sun.

FOLLOW THE CROWD
CHORUS
Follow the crowd and lets go swinging
For we know where there's music in the air
It's a great day for singing
And there's room for you all to be there
Follow the crowd and you'll be glowing
With the tempo and the harmony
For we all know where we're going
Follow the crowd and you'll be one of us
And what a company we'll be

RETURN TO LIST
FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD
Is it worth waiting for?
If we live 'til eighty-four
all we ever get is gruel!
Ev'ry day we say a prayer,
Will they change the bill of fare?
Still we get the same old gruel!
There's not a crust, not a crumb can we find,
can we beg, can we borrow or cadge.
But there's nothing to stop us from getting a thrill
when we all close our eyes and imagine;

Food, Glorious Food!
Hot sausage and mustard!
While we're in the mood,
Cold jelly and custard!
Pease pudding and saveloys!
What next is the question?
Rich gentlemen have it boys indyegestion!
Food, Glorious Food!
We're anxious to try it,
Three banquets a day,
Our favourite diet!
Just picture a great big steak, fried, roasted or stewed.
Oh, food, wonderful food, marvellous food.
Glorious Food!

Food, Glorious Food!
Don't care what it looks like,
Burned, under-done, crude,
Don't care what the cook's like.
Just thinking of growing fat,
Our senses are reeling,
One moment of knowing that full up feeling!
Food, Glorious Food!
What wouldn't we give for,
That extra bit more,
That's all that we live for
Why should we be fated to do nothing but brood
On food, magical food, wonderful food,
marvellous food, fabulous food, beautiful food,
Glorious Food!

FREEDOM
Verse 1
You'll see a dawning in the sky rising higher and higher
You'll see the sun on a new born day just like a ball of fire
You'll see a light shining over the world just as it ought to be
You'll hear a voice in the flames cry out
Man was born to be Free
Verse 2
You'll see a change in the minds of men when they can understand
All men are brothers great and small just like the master planned
Colour and creed will be as one, one world in unity
When all nations rise and
Man was born to be free.
Chorus
War will end and disappear
Man will never walk in fear
Frontiers will vanish out of sight
And we will walk in pathways bright out of darkness into light
To live our lives in liberty
For Man Was Born to be free

THE GALLOPING MAJOR
VI
When I was in the army I was a cavalryman, you know
and whenever I went on parade
A magnificent picture I made
Through my galloping here, and my galloping there
This ridiculous habit I got
And I'm hanged if I don't think I'm galloping now
Whether up in the saddle or not
And the people they stare at me so
For it matter not where I may go ..... it's

Chorus
Bumpity, Bumpity, Bumpity, Bump, As if I was riding my charger
Bumpity, Bumpity, Bumpity, Bump, As proud as an Indian Rajah
All the girls declare
That I'm a gay old stager
Hey hey clear the way
Here comes the Galloping Major!

V2
Last year I thought I'd treat myself to a holiday by the sea
So I went and my quarters I fixed
Then I found that the bathing was mixed
So I galloped away to a bathing machine
In the busiest part of the day
And soon I felt at home with the girls in the water
And joined in their frivolous play
They are beautiful creatures, but, Lor!
How they giggled as soon as they saw.... me

V3
I always was a ladies man and a favourite with the sex
Well, I called upon one yesterday
Though I won't give the lady away
She started to talk of my army career
And was quite interested you see
But I got rather tired so we talk 'd about her
Which was more interesting to me
And she'd said I 'd been taking some wine
For as soon as we sat down to dine ......I went

V4
I don't tell everyone, but still, I was married some time ago
I regret of the matter to speak
We were only together a week
I endeavoured, of course, to make Gwendolyn happy
But one day alas and alack
That impulsive young creature ran home to her mother
And told her she wouldn't go back
When I said I thought it was rough
She replied that she 'd had quite enough of .......my

GANG SHOW SLAVES
Back stage in the chaos and the clamour,
Ev'ry show must have a back-stage mob,
They don't get the spotlight or the glamour,
They just have to get on with their job.
Though they get a mention in the programme,
No one knows what trails they go through,
Collecting props and costumes, scripts and music,
Just to have a decent show to bring to you.
1. We're just the slaves of the Gang Show,
We are the folk who do the work,
I am the brains behind the show
I'm such a clever chap,
As your Producer I'm relieved to hear the audience clap,
Cos if it is a flop then I'm the one who'll take the rap,
Oh, Gang Show slaves are we
2. We're just the slaves of the Gang Show,
We're just the brains behind the Show,
As musical Director I'm a man of class and poise,
I wave my little stick and try to keep time with the boys
Whil'st glaring at the Orchestra who make too much darned noise
Oh! Gang Show slaves are we.
3. We're just the slaves of the Gang show,
We're just the back room boys and girls.
Night after night my ladies make up trousers, hats and skirts,
They use up miles of thread and cloth for blouses, coats and skirts,
But should you misbehave they'll stick a pin right where it hurts,
Oh! Gang Show slaves are we.

4. We're just the slaves of the Gang Show,
Without us there would be no show.
For months I go around collecting switches, bulbs and wire,
I even fill the water buckets just in case of fire,
Then just to make the numbers up they stick me in the choir,
Oh! Gang Slaves are we.
5. We're just the slaves of the Gang show,
Night after night we do our work,
I'm Treasurer, a busy bloke who hasn't time to eat,
I'll take your cheque, collect your cash, and give you your receipt,
I never see a show because I can't afford a seat,
Oh! Gang Show slaves are we.
6. We're just the slaves of the Gang Show,
We never grumble or complain,
I am the man who operates with hammer and with nails,
No matter what producers want the Prop man never fails,
Boxes, swords, or axes, or cardboard hats or horses tails.
Oh! Gang Show slaves are we.

7. We're just the slaves of the Gang Show,
Sometimes we wish we'd never joined.
I'm a most important bloke, publicity's my job,
With adverts, posters, bills and raffle tickets, five a bob,
If anyone should interfere I just shout "shut your………." (shout "Hey")
Oh! Gang Show slaves are we.
8. We're just the slaves of the Gang Show.
Night after night we do our bit.
They just take me for granted, and never think of me,
Until they want a can of pop or cup of 'Rosy lea'
But they'll look sick on Saturday if there's no Gang Show tea,
Oh! Gang Show slaves are we.
9. We're just the slaves of the Gang Show,
We slog away week after week.
Who must stick religiously to each rehearsal list,
Who must turn up regularly or be really missed,
Who's the biggest slave of all the GANG SHOW PIANIST!
Oh! Gang Show slaves are we.
We're just the slaves of the Gang Show,
Sometimes we're positively sick,
With nerves on edge and tempers frayed we argue and we shout,
We often wonder what the blinkin' Show is all about,
But in the end we settle down and hope it will work out,
It's no good, we've been hooked, and we'll never get free,
Cos Gang Show slaves are we (we really like )
Gang Show slaves are we

GIRLS ARE SUCH AN OVER RATED PASTIME
Girls are such an over-rated pastime,
I'd even rather kiss my mum.
The girls have heard about me and they drive me up the pole.
It s just because they heard that I was in the Wolf Patrol.
I've heard about this Annie gal, who always went a-gunnin'
To all the men about the town she really was so stunnin'.
I wish she's make the Borough play the same team two weeks runnin'
Girls are such an over-rated pastime.

GIVE A LITTLE LOVE
We could have been anything that we wanted to be
And it's not too late to change
I'd be de/ighted to give it some thought
Maybe you'll agree that we really ought to, three four,
We could've been anything that we wanted to be
Yes that decision was ours
It's been decided, we're weaker divided
Let friendship double up our powers

GO INTO YOUR DANCE
When your luck's out and you're in a 'tiz
And you don't know what the answer is,
Try the Show World where the mono is
"Go into your Dance".
When your jokes fail and there's no retreat
Then forget the patter and use your feet,
It's an old trick and it works a treat,
Go into your dance. Go into your dance. Go into your dance.
When the world is topsy-turvy and you're not the price of a crumb,
Hold the stage and don't give in whenever the laughs won't come.
You must stand there and deserve your rights,
You must go out there and win your fights,
'Til the day you see your name in lights
Go into your dance. Go into your dance.

RETURN TO LIST
GOODNIGHT
Now we've reached the end of our show.
But before we let you all go,
We'll give you a reprise Of our favorite melodies.

Goodnight to you all, the curtain must fall
And maybe we shall meet again some day.

And for ever more on that Golden Shore we shall be in the Happy Land
We shall play our harps in the realms of glory, there with the Heavenly Band
There will be no night, in our robes of white we shall be in the Happy Land
There'll be no sorrow when we're in that great array We'll sing ''Alleluia, Alleluia" all the day
We shall walk, walk, walk, where the green, green pastures grow by the Master's Hand
And we'll sing our song of praise when we get to the Happy Land

HAWAII
There's a land where palm trees sway: where you dream the hours away
Go anywheie in the world that you wish, no metropolis can boast of a place like this:
It's all go in Hawaii, - All go - go in Hawaii, -
Fun's a-plenty of ev'ry sort: Name it, they will supply the sport.
Best of all when the fleet's in port in Hawaii.
You've got to see Hawaii: There's nothing like Hawaii
Ev'ry step and enchanted treat: Ev'ry movement is on the beat:
See the girls shake there shredded wheat in Hawaii.
Dancing girls beneath the palms and pines,
Stimulate like the rarest wines:
You will find it's not alone the lovely moon that shines.
When you get to Hawaii, you'll never leave Hawaii;
Ev'ryone there is on the mark, in the sunlight or in the dark;
What a place for the Navy Lark, in Hawaii.

HAYRIDE
It's the day we depend upon put your best bib and tucker on,
This is the day when we're excited, and not a soul can blame us if we're delighted.
We're getting the lot, here's what's what.
It's the day we've been waiting for, and we know what the ride is for,
We're going to see the sun at dawning and we shall all be broke before early morning.
Who cares about dough when we know.
CHORUS
We're going for a hayride, we're off on a hayride,
It's one time when we don't care,
You can't afford not to be here aboard,
We're on our way to Pinner Fair.
We've a nice pair of horses, a fine pair of horses,
Made for a heavy load,
We sing as we go and we shout out "Hello"
When there's anybody on the road.
In our Sunday suits you can bet your boots,
We look the same as County Earls.
And when we arrive, we shall make a dive,
We want to see the pretty girls.
Oh we're off on a hayride and this is a hayride,
what ever comes we share.
We'll carry on and we may not get home, 'til the dawn,
so jump on the wagon, join in the hayride,
down to Pinner Fair.

We're going to be the talk of the town.

HOLD YOUR HAND OUT NAUGHTY BOY!
At the club one ev'ning Jones was telling all his pain
How much he hated girls, despised their golden curls.
"You boy! Last night in the pain moonlight I saw yer!
I saw yer! With a nice girl in the park
You were strolling full of joy,
And you told her you'd never kissed a girl before
Hold your hand out, naughty boy!"

HONG KONG BLUES
Verse 1
You can go to New Orleans on any dancing floor,
Merseyside or Trinidad or down to Bangalore.
But you'll find no other school
Like ours so sample it cool.
Verse 2
We can sail the seven seas, to cities big and small
But beyond a doubt this is our favourite port of call.
When it's shore leave we can go
And here you've got the lot so

Come on you music master, we want to hear the sound
And you know the style we're going to choose,
For there's nothing in the land - anywhere you go to beat the band
Who plays ~The Hong Kong Blues"
This is the kind of music, keeping the midnight sun
Dancing through the hours he wouldn't lose
For there isn't any beat that was ever heard on Basin Street
Good as "The Hong Kong Blues ~
They play it high and then they play it sweet and low down
It's got a sound nobody ever heard before
And then you shuffle like your lazy
And your head is feeling hazy but your crazy for more
No maner where you come from no maner where you go
And it doesn't matter where you've been
You can travel up and down - but you've got to go to China Town
To hear that "Hong Kong",
(I said the "Hong Kong")
To hear the "Hong Kong Blues"

I FEEL PRETTY
I feel pretty oh so pretty
I feel pretty and witty and bright
And I pity any girl who isn't me tonight
I feel charming oh so charming
It's alarming how charming I fee/
And so pretty that I hardly can believe I'm real
See the pretty girl in that mirror there
Who can that attractive girl be
Such a pretty face, such a pretty dress
Such a pretty smile such a pretty me
I feel stunning and entrancing
Feel like running and dancing forjoy
For I'm loved by a pretty wonderful boy

RETURN TO LIST
I SEE RED
When I hear the drumming and I get the tempo humming in my head,
I see Red!
When I get the rhythm of a beat, something seems to happen to my feet
Everything just scatters and there s nothing else that matters
I get led, I see Red! and it sends me high All my feathers fly as I tread—
I see Red!
It's a kick and only found—when you've really heard the Sound,
And you never want to see the morning ever come round.
It's the kind of Voo-doo that can drive away my hoo-doo, and instead,
Like I said, I see Red! I see Red! I see Red!

I THINK WE'LL GO PARADIN
The simple things of Life are best,
The poets often say,
And I am certain they Believe it all the way.
How simple is my invitation,
Such an age-old innovation,
But we seem to like it best of all.
I think we'll go paradin'The After Church Paradin'
To stroll on Sunday Evening is a lovely thing to do,
And as we go Paradin'
We'll bow to those invadin'
The way we choose-the way they've chosen too.

That I'm the lucky fella you are keeping company,
So come let's go Paradin'
Oh my, when you're arrayed in
That Sunday dress,
I'd walk for miles with you.

Some Indian summer's day
Without a sound

With Big Chief Hole-in-the-Ground
And I'll have totem poles, tomahawks, pipes of peace
Which will go to prove
I'm an Indian too
A Sioux
A Sioux
With my chief in his teepee
We'll raise an Indian family
And I'll be busy night and day
Looking like a flour sack
With two papooses on my back

I'M GETTING RID OF MY SHADOWS
I'm getting rid of my shadows, I'm going to give them the air,
Take a look and see how they follow me ev'ry where.
Oh, who wants to bother with shadows? They'll go wherever you go
Do we need them ? Or want to breed 'em ? no, no, no.
I'm fed up with having something near me when I'm walking down the street,
And it's worse, in reverse when it gets under my feet,
So I'm getting rid of the chip on my shoulder and I'm having a try,
Just to walk out all on my own when I have bid all my shadows "Goodbye."

IT MAKES YOU THINK
We know the men of science all intend to make things hum,
But will it all be for our good? This shape of things to come
Or is it going to cause a lot of pandemonium?

It makes you think

As we're the blokes who really stand to win or lose the most
Suppose one day they shrivel up the world from coast to coast?
All we can do is let them and just giggle as we roast.

It makes you think.

Progress may be a wonderful thing,
they aim to reach the top.
It's O.K. to discover things, but will they know when to stop.
To get to Yankee land in half an hour perhaps is great,
America will be as near as our old garden gate,
But will Old England then become their fifty second State?

It makes you think.

RETURN TO LIST
IT'S A BEAUTIFUL THING TO GO NOWHERE
Speed isn't my word, but speed is the bye-word
That's sending us crazy today.
Now the master is Faster Faster,
Get on, or get out of the way.
Every second has got to be reckoned
In revving away to the skies,
What a pity Modern Folk can't realise.
IT'S A BEAUTIFUL THING TO GO NOWHERE
Doing nothing at all,
Plenty of time to look at the sun
Forgetting Father Time and all the things
he's done.
Oh I you don't have to hurry in No-Where
Never a worry or sigh,
The day is yours to laze about,
Time to dream when the stars come out
IT'S A BEAUTIFUL THING TO GO NOWHERE
Watching the clouds roll by.

RETURN TO LIST
IT'S A HARD-KNOCK LIFE

It's the hard-knock life for us! It's the hard-knock life for us!
'Steada treated we get tricked 'Stead kisses we get kicked,
It's a hard-knock life!
Got no folks to speak of, so, It's the hard-knock row we hoe.
Cotton blankets 'steada wool, Empty bellies 'steada full,
It's the hard-knock life!
Don't it feel like the wind is always howlin'?
Don't it seem like there's never any light?
Once a day don't you want to throw the towel in?
It's easier than puttin' up a fight.
No one's there when your dreams at night get creepy,
No one cares if you grow, or if you srink,
No one dries when your eyes get wet and weepy.
From cryin' you would think this place would sink.
Oh! Santa Clause we never see,
Santa Clause, What's that? Who's he?
No one cares for you a smidge When you're in an orphanidge,
It's a hard-knock life (Yes it is) It's a hard-knock life. (Yes it is)
It's a Hard-Knock Life.

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE "
Why are we dressed in this cheery array?
What is the song in our hearts?
What are the mem'ries to cover our way?
Why such a glorious start?
We know the signposts that point to the road,
Making the best of each day,
Ours is a pathway for all to share,
Ours the broad highway.

CHORUS
Out in the rain boys, or out in the snow,
Out in the sunshine, where ever you go,
Theres one thing all we fellows know,
Gee it's a wonderful life.
Whether in Highlands or down in the dale,
Over the river, and on to the vale
We hike along the Rainbow Trail,
Gee it's a wonderful life.
When your out about with scouting your as happy as a king.
If you're tracking in a meadow or a bird upon the wing.
In the Autumn or the Winter,
Or the Summer or the Spring.
It's the most remarkable thing;
Out with the gang boys, and journeying to
Lands of adventure, awaiting for you,
You find your day dreams coming true,
Gee it's a wonderful life,
You bet it's a wonderful life.

Stretching before us are paths that are new,
Better than any you've seen.
And with a chorus to carry you through
On to the pastures of green.
We are the boys who are leading the way,
Taking the world in our stride,
Ours is the movement that rolls along
Riding on the tide.

IT'S JUST A THING CALLED LOVE"
Strong is the iron the Universe hails
Formed by the sweat and the work it entails.
But high are our girders and strong are the rails,
WE MAKE AND LEARN TO LOVE.
Who are the men who caused to be born
The towering furnace that lights up the dawn.
They're Samuelson, Bell, Gjers, Bolckow and Vaughan;
THESE ARE THE NAMES WE LOVE.
Loud are the anthems that ring with our praise,
Out on a flowing breeze,
Let us remember what Gladscone said,
''This infant child, this Hercules '' !
The Sydney Bridge, so majestic and fine,
The bridge of Lambeth, the bridge of the Tyne,
Were made by our Fathers, its yours and its mine
IT STANDS FOR ALL WE LOVE,

JUNGLE RHYTHM
That morning sun peeks over the mountains
And all the rhinos rub their eyes
When they hear
(hear what?)
Hear the jungle rhythm

Those birds are tap-tap-tappin' the tree trunks
The busy bee hums as he flies
Loud and clear
To the jungle rhythm

Now you can hightail it out of the jungle
But it never leaves your heart
First you feel that beat start
bubbling under
Then you hear the tom-toms
Loud as thunder

(it's moving me!)

Sounds a lot like being free
When you feel
Feel the jungle rhythm
Feel the Jungle rhythm

(come on, Mowgli!)

Can't do without rhythm
And when it fills the air
Animals everywhere
Join in the dance

You'll dance along with'em
Feeling it steal your soul
-We'll stomp our paws!
-Flap our wings!
Maybe do one or two crazy things

-Kan Khan!
-Yeah that's it!
-Uh ha, uh ha!

awooo
hip hip hip

(...)

Check out those chat-chat-chattering monkeys
Swinging through the banyan trees
Two By two (two by two)
To the jungle rhythm

Sounds like a wolf pack
Way in the distance
Singing pretty harmonies
Woo-woo-woo (woo-woo-woo)
To the jungle rhythm

-Yeah! That's it!

Now you can hightail it out of the jungle
But it never leaves your heart
First you feel that beat start
bubbling under
Then you hear the tom-toms
Loud as thunder

(it's moving me!)

Sounds a lot like being free
When I feel (When I feel)
(When I feel) (When I feel)
Feel the jungle rhythm!

KNOCKING AT THE DOOR FOR MABEL
We're going through some awful days,
Our home has lost its peaceful ways.
For the boys have started up a craze—
KNOCKING AT THE DOOR FOR MABEL.
They must be daft, they must be dumb,
And they are driving us all numb,
Through the day and night the blighters come
KNOCKING AT THE DOOR FOR MABEL.
On lanky ones and short ones she appears to cast a spell,
On fatty ones and skinny ones as well.
We get the spivs with shoulders wide And pimply ones we can't abide.
And there's one bloke comes who's so cock-eyed
KNOCKING AT THE DOOR FOR MABEL.

LEANING ON A LAMP-POST
Leaning on a lamp,
Maybe you think I look a tramp,
Or you may think I'm hanging round to steal a car;
But no, I'm not a crook,
And if you think that's what I look,
I'll tell you why I'm here and what my motives are.
I'm leaning on a lamp-post at the corner of the street,
In case a certain little lady comes by
Oh me, Oh my, I hope that lady comes by.
I don't know if she'll get away,
She doesn't always get away,
But anyway I know that she'll try.
Oh me, Oh my, I hope that little lady comes by.
There's no other girl I could wait for,
But this one I'd break any date for,
I wont have to ask what she's late for,
She'd never leave me flat,
She's not a girl like that
She's absolutely wonderful and marvellous and beautiful,
And anyone can understand why
I'm leaning on a lamp-post at the corner of the street,
In case a certain little lady comes by.

LET'S WAVE IT
It's easy to tell we live in a shell
So come out together and brave it
Let's all fing a flag and then
Don't be afraid let's wave it.
We know that we've got the best of the lot
We'll ever be ready to save it
So let's come right out and shout
Don't be afraid let's wave it.
Too long we have hid all the things that we did
In our spare time to give satisfaction.
Let's show all the world that our banners unfurled
And we're bursting to go into action
We know that it's worth the finest on earth
We know all the toil that we gave it
So let's not pack it right away
Don't be a jade, come out of the shade
Don't be afraid let's wave it,

LET THERE BE PEACE ON EARTH
Let there be peace on earth. and let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be.
With God as our father, brothers all are we,
Let me walk with my brother in perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me, let this be the moment now,
With every step I take let this be my solemn vow.
To take each moment, and live each moment, in peace and harmony.
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.

LITTLE PEOPLE
They laugh at me, these fellows, just because I am small.
They laugh at me because I'm not a hundred feet tall!
I tell 'em there's a lot to learn down here on the ground.
The world is big but little people turn it around.

Goliath was a bruiser who was tall as the sky
but David threw a right and gave him one in the eye.
I never read the Bible but I know that it's true
it only goes to show what little people can do!
So listen here, Professor, With your head in the cloud,
It's often kind of useful to get lost in a crowd.
So keep your universities I don't give a damn
for better or for worse it is The way I am!
Be careful as you go 'Cos little people grow.
And little people know When little people fight
WE may look easy pickings but we got some bite!
So never kick a dog because it's just a pup
You better run for cover when the pup grows up!
And we'll fight like twenty armies And we wont give up!

CHORUS
A worm can roll a stone A bee can sting a bear
A fly can fly around Versailles 'Cos flies don't care!
A sparrow in a hat Can make a happy home
A flea can bite a bottom Of the pop in Rome!

RETURN TO LIST
LONELY HEARTS
Lonely hearts there never should be
Lonely hearts there never would be
If the likes of you and the likes of me
Tried a little bit more
When you smile at anyone who may not be as lucky as you
When you see the good you'd do
Do a little bit more
Write somebody a letter pay somebody a call
Say hello to your neighbour over the garden wall
This can mean you never know what
Little things they matter a lot
Do these things and what have you got
No more lonely hearts.

LOOK WHO'S HERE
Verse
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday:
Who cares what day
If it's a day that's going to bring pay?
Nobody knows how your luck goes or the wind blows;
Maybe a knock or telephone bell
Somebody calls and everything is swell!
Chorus
When you open the door and you see who is standing there,
You let out a cheer, " Look who's here."
It's a dream of surprise when you open your eyes
And you greet your lucky Year with " Look who's here."
Never for a moment did you ever dream
Any little moment could be so supreme.
It's the ultimate in effect,
When it's someone you don't expect
How do you begin invitation-ing Come right in?
So you open the door—they're the ones you've been waiting for,
And when they appear, It's a show of delight, it's a gay, wonderful sight,
Look ev'rybody, " Look who's here."

MAKE FRIENDS WITH PEOPLE
Verse
For I dipped into the future far as human eye could see,
Saw the vision of the world and all the wonders that would be.
Saw the heavens filled with commerce,
Argosies and magic sails,
Pilots of the purple twilight dropping down with costly bales.
Heard the heavens filled with shouting and there rained a ghastly dew,
From the nation airy navies grappling in the central blue.
For along the worldwide whisper of the south wind rushing warm
With the standards of the people plunging thro the thunder storm
Till the war drums throbbed no longer and the battle flags were furled
In the Parliament of man the federation of the world.
Chorus
Make friends with people let everyone know
People are people anywhere you may go
Over the skyline far over the sea There,
there are people who like us know this should be
Every land and every nation longs for a time so blest
When we find the sun and we all are one from the North, South, East and West
Make friends with people wherever they are
Til' the war drums are no longer and the battle flags are furled
In the parliament of man, the federation of the world.

MAYBE"
Maybe far away
Or maybe real nearby
He may be pouring her coffee
She may be straighting this tie!
Maybe in a house
All hidden by a hill
She's sitting playing piano,
He's sitting paying a bill!

Betcha they're young
Betcha they're smart
Bet they collect things
Like ashtrays, and art!
Betcha they're good --
(Why shouldn't they be?)
Their one mistake
Was giving up me!

So maybe now it's time,
And maybe when I wake
They'll be there calling me "Baby"...
Maybe.

Betcha he reads
Betcha she sews
Maybe she's made me
A closet of clothes!
Maybe they're strict
As straight as a line...
Don't really care
As long as they're mine!

So maybe now this prayer's
The last one of it's kind...
Won't you please come get your "Baby"

Here in the land of Spaniola
You're going to love, love, love the way we do,
A Tarantella to a rhythm new,
And when you make a break you learn the way to take
A step a-loo into
My ME-I-O; so go, go, go,
There's romancing in gay dancing in ME-I-O.

MERRY MONTH OF MAY
Where the water-falls in the Springtime calls
We'll go a-hiking all the way
where the wild, wild rose and the green grass grows
In the merry month of May.
As we cross the Dales, over Hill and Vales
We'll chant a merry Roundelay.
And it,s great to be so alive as we
In the merry month of May.
And all the fields are looking pretty
And at times there's a bow from a tree.
When you leave behind the town and city
right away you're fancy free.
Oh it's good to stride through the countryside
Where Mother Nature's holding sway.
And you feel like kings when a skylark sings,
Ev'ry mile is like another holiday as we hike along our way
In the merry month of May.

RETURN TO LIST
MONEY AND FRIENDS(MONEY)
Money, money, money, money
everybody wants money
What's the good of living if your poor
And the wolves are knocking at your door
We'll take all that life can give
We want to live, live, live, live, live
You can do what you like when your rich
You can carve out a wonderful niche
You have little concern when there's nothing to earn
And you've plenty of money you can burn
Paying cash for a Rolls Royce at Rootes
Wearing expensively tailor made suits
Folk will know who you are when you drive in your car
And they see you in Claridges Bar
You can argue how you like but money means a lot
Doesn't matter who you are today it's what you've got
You can take it from me when I say
That the only infallible way to be certain to know
If you're loaded with dough you're O.K.
MONEY AND FRIENDS
(FIENDS)
You can get along without money
You can lose your dividends
You can get by without lots of things but
You gotta have friends
You can do without an umbrella
Take what the weather man sends
You can do without a winter overcoat
But you can't do without friends
Loads of diamonds you may have but if you're on your own
What good's a million quid in your pocket if you're all alone
Tell the world and his neighbour happiness depends
Not on the number of your house
Or on the number of your car
But on the number of your friends

RETURN TO LIST
Money Money
Money makes the world go around,
the world go around, the world go around,
Money makes the world go around,
it makes the world go round.
A mark, a yen, a buck or a pound,
a buck or a pound, a buck or a pound,
Is all that makes the world go around,
that clinking clanking sound,
Can make the world go round.
If you happen to be rich, and you feel like a night's entertainment,
You can pay for a gay escapade.
If you happen to be rich, and alone and you need a companion,
You can ring ting-a-ling for the maid.
If you happen to be rich and you find you are left by your lover,
Tho you moan and you groan quite a lot,
You can take it on the chin,
call a cab and begin to recover on your fourteen carat yacht.
Money makes the world go around,
the world go around, the world go around,
Money makes the world go around,
of that we both are sure.
(Raspberry) On being poor.
When you haven't any coal in the stove and you freeze in the winter
And you curse to the wind at your fate.
When you haven't any shoes on your feet and your coat's thin as paper
And you look thirty pounds underweight,
When you go to get a word of advice from the fat little pastor,
he will tell you to love evermore.
But when hunger comes to rap, rat-a-tat, rat-a-tat, at the window
See how love flies out the door.
For money makes the world go around, the world go around,
the world go around.
Money makes the world go around,
the clinking, clanking sound
of Money, money, money, money,
Money, money, money, money,
Get a little, get a little,
Money, money, money, money,
Mark, a yen, a buck or a pound,
That clinking, clanking clunking sound
is all that makes the world go round,
It makes the world go round.

MUMS
Verse 1
I'm sure you all realise we have Mothers.
(We don't pretend that's confidential news).
But very, very often they're a puzzle
and constantly they baffle and confuse
Chorus 1
What is the mystery about our mothers?
Why is it they are seldom wrong?
How do they know (before you know) you're likely to be ill?
And give you castor oil a Beecham's powder or a pill?
And when you try to tell them some old story,
They fix you with a knowing look that stuns.
How do they know the very things you thought they didn't know?
Because they're Mums.
Chorus 2
It seems to me you can't get over mothers.
They always seem to be one step ahead.
Why is it when you answer back she looks at you?
And says; "Now one more word, my son, and you'll get up them stairs"?
We know they are always there when they are wanted,
And always seem to take whatever comes.
Why is it they always find the things you try to hide?
Because they're Mums.
Chorus 3
When we get ready for the Scout on Fridays,
She watches me and looks me up and down.
And then she'll say, "You're not going out like that,
So if you please, go up and wash your dirty neck and scrub your filthy knees,
So back again you go up to the bathroom, and glad you're out of sight of your chums
But when you come downstairs again, why does she glow with pride?
Because she's MUM.
Verse 2
It's been the same through every generation,
And that's the way we hope it will remain.
But every now and then we sit and wonder,
And all these funny thoughts crop up again.
Chorus 4
They always seem to know just what you're thinking.
Their eyes just seem to follow you around.
Why is it that they always seem to know what you're about?
When you've done something stupid, how the deuce do they find out?
When you're going out on your first romance,
Your mother adds you up like simple sums, and when you've gone.
Why do they cry and say "Oh dad he's started!"
Because they're Mums.
Chorus 5
If we're invited somewhere for a weekend,
Of course we've got to have clean underwear.
And if you try to argue well we never stand a chance,
But who do they expect to see us in our under-pants?
Yet where would fellers be without their mothers?
Since we were in our prams and sucked our thumbs,
We know without a doubt there's only one thing we can say
HOO-RAY FOR MUMS.!
NEVER SMILE AT A CROCODILE
Never smile at a crocodile,
No you can't get friendly with a crocodile,
Don't be taken in by his welcome grin,
He's imagining how well you'd fit within his skin.

RETURN TO LIST
NOBODY KNOWS
Now look at me, a traveller who's always on his own;
My luck is out, it's always out, but why I've never known.
Just what it's like to be like me and very much alone
Nobody knows, nobody knows.
No sun comes out to shine for me, it hides behind a cloud;
A smile for me, a cheery word is some how not allowed,
And what it's like to be a feller lonely in a crowd
Nobody knows, nobody knows.
If you are wondering why I've got such hustered eyes,
It's just because I'm always dodging custard pies.
The rolling road for motor cars is laid out wide and neat
It's not for me, I have to take the by-ways for my feat
I shuffle on, then rest a while to ease my aching feet,
Nobody knows, no body knows.

ONE
One singular sensation ev'ry little step she takes.
One thrilling combination ev'ry move she makes.
One smile and suddenly nobody else will do.
You know you'll never be lonely with you know who.
One moment in her presence and you can forget the rest,
for the girl is second best to none, son.
Ooooh! Sigh! Give her your attention.
Do I really have to mention, she's the one?
She walks into a room and you know she's uncommonly rare,
very unique, peripatetic, poetic and chic.
She walks into a room and you know from her maddening poise,
effortless whirl, she's a special girl strolling.
Can't help all of her qualities extolling.
Loaded with charisma is ma jauntily, sauntering, ambling, shambler.
She walks into a room and you know you must shuffle along, join the parade.
She's the quintessence of making the grade.
This is whatcha call trav'lling! Oh, strut stuff.
Can't get enough of her. Love her.
I'm a son of a gun, she is one of a kind.
One singular sensation ev'ry little step she takes.
One thrilling combination ev'ry move that she makes.
One smile and suddenly nobody else will do.
You know you'll never be lonely with you know who.
One moment in her presence and you can forget the rest,
for the girl is second best to none, son.
Ooooh! Sigh! Give her your attention.

OOM-PAH-PAH
Oom-pah-pah! Oom-pah-pah! That's how it goes,
Oom-pah-pah! Oom-pah-pah! Ev'ryone knows,
They all suppose what they want to suppose, when they hear Oom-pah-pah!

There's a little ditty they're singing in the city,
Espesh'ly when they've bin on the gin or the beer.
If you've got the patience, your own imaginations
Will tell you just exactly what you want to hear.

Mister Percy Snodgrass would often have an odd glass,
But never when he thought anybody could see.
Secretly he'd buy it, and drink it on the quiet
And dream he was an earl wiv a girl on his knee.

Pretty little Sally goes walking down the ally,
Displays her pretty ankles to all of the men.
They could her garters, but not for free and grantis,
An inch or two and then she knew when to say when.

Chorus
Oom-pah-pah! Oom-pah-pah! That's how it goes,
Oom-pah-pah! Oom-pah-pah! ev'ry-one knows,
1. They all suppose what they want to suppose, When they hear Oom-pah-pah!
2. What is the cause of his red shiny nose? Can it be Oom-pah-pah?
3. Whether it's hidden or whether it shows, It's the same Oom-pah-pah!

ON THEIR WAY TO BED
We're eight little kids on our way to bed
but we strongly disagree
That eight little kids should be sent to bed
When we've only just had tea
You grown-ups who like a drink or two
And stay up very late
But we like a coke so it's not a joke
When send to bed at eight
It don't seem fair that you out there
Can stay up half the night
While we are cursed with a bloomin thirst
Are told to switch off the light
We're eight little kids but we don't feel tired
In the very least degree,
So why should we all be sent to bed,
When we'd rather watch t.v.
When parents know there's a super show,
Just an hour or so ahead,
They become severe and they'll say "now dear,
It's time you went to bed"
It doesn't seem right, with your failing sight,
To watch that tiny screen,
While we with eyes need exercise,
Are in bed by 8.15.

So we'll explain for we think we should it's our first show

Seemed like a lifefime now we're here it suits us to a 'T'
When you belong to the Gang you're in line

They keep their eyes on us all the time it's their first year in the show
They keep their eyes on us all the time in our first year in the show

OVER THE GARDEN WALL
The years are rolling by but you can see that I
Have not forgotten to pay a call,
Upon the girl who took my fancy,
Over the Garden Wall.

I've been away to school, but I forgot each rule
And couldn't concentrate at all,
I dreamed all day, and all I dreamed was
Over the Garden Wall.

Hi, there, Miss Benita, I'm home to say "hello."
Gosh I've got an idea,
Wouldn't it be terrific if we saw a movie show
But if you'll say you'll come you rnustn't tell our mum,
She wouldn't understand at all—
You will? Oh gosh, that's super duper,
Meet you at the end of the Garden Wall.

Ah well, the big day's here rny tummy's feeling queer,
And now whatever may befall
I need not come to gaze with longing
Over the Garden Wall.

I'm sticking out my neck—I feel a nervous wreck,
But to the church I've got to crawl,
I pray the choir boys won't start singing
Over the Garden Wall.

RETURN TO LIST

Where there as you fly be living the "Life of O'Reilly"
On over the skyline Every pleasure you share
And feel like a star as you dream that vou are a millionaire.

RETURN TO LIST
PATTER
We're simply part and parcel of each other
We've got to keep as tight as any clam
The answer is we've got to stick together
Like all those twins you've heard of in Siam
Supposing none of us showed up this evening
Imagine if we'd all just stayed away
And you were sitting out there as you are now
You'd look a proper bunch of charleys' eh
Of course if you stayed home the same would happen
We know that we should look a funny mob
Without a penny coming in the kitty
We'd have to charge a tenner for bob a job
Maybe we've got a sort of common outlook
That radiates a warming kind of cheer
It totals up to something like affection
And makes us want to meet again another year.

RETURN TO LIST
PICNIC
Come on along, we're going to have a picnic,
Come on along, we're going to take you for a ride,
Come on along, we're going to have a picnic

Come on along you see there's something doing,
Hold tight the kettle, put the teapot m the clear,
You'll hear a song when "Sookie" starts a—brewing.
Steam and a whistle blowing, tea—time's here.
We'll have sunshine all the way,
A real high treat, a lot to eat,
Ham and Jam and apple storee,
Ev'rything is hunky dory.
Come on along, we re going to have a picnic,
Times getting on, we're going to get upon our way,
Come on along we're going to have a picnic,
This is a wonderful day.

RAGTIME COWBOY JOE
Out in Arizona where the bad men are
And the only friend to guide you is an evening star
The roughest toughest man by far is RAGTIME COWBOY JOE
Got his name by singing to the cows and sheep
Every night they say he sings the herd to sleep
In a bass o rich and deep crooning soft and low
Chorus
He always sings raggy music to the cattle as he swings
Back and forward in the saddle on a Horse
That is syncopated gaited
And there's such a funny meter to the roar of his repeater
How they run when they hear that fellow's gun
Because the western folks all know
He's a high fallutin rootin tootin son of a gun from Arizona
Ragtime cowboy Joe

RAISE YOUR HAT
CHORUS—
Raise your hat and learn the easy lesson
and as ev'rybody should know,
Raise your hat and make a good impression
ev'ry time you're saying Hello
You leave the small time for the tall time,
soon ev'ryone knows.
A bowler or a proper summer boater
or a topper anything goes
Raise your hat,
you need to be never caring and at any time of the day
Raise your hat no matter what you're wearing
and the population will say
He's a Gent bent on making a bid
to set a standard and he just used_his lid.

" RAZZLE DAZZLE "
Give 'em the old razzle dazzle
Razzle Dazzle 'em
Give 'em an act with lots of flash in it
And the reaction will be passionate
Give 'em the old hocus pocus
Bead and feather 'em
How can they see with sequins in their eyes?

What if your hinges all are rusting?
What if, in fact, you're just disgusting?
Razzle dazzle 'em
A
